A book made for a rebind swap of “Project Hail Mary”, summer 2026
I wanted to try my hand at actually rebinding a book. So far I have mainly done my own typesets from public domain books, notebooks and so on. When I saw an opportunity on Instagram, for a swap of one of the coolest books from the last few years, I had to join in on the fun.
I did try some new techniques, and was reminded why I usually work with new folded sheets, and not something already glued together. All in all a very fun time!
Thanks for letting me participate, and enjoy the book!
The book
- Disassembled and resewn to round spine and make it last longer.
- Half leather cover with marbled paper from Jemma Lewis
- Sewn headbands using Gütermann silk thread
- NFC tag with link to this page
- Handmade wrapping paper using Japanese kozo tissue paper and a hand carved stamp with my logo
- Foil tooling on spine and covers
